    Minnesota Fishing

Me and my family are looking to go up there this summer around the june, july time frame. I have said that I want to go to a lake with ether muskie or Northern pike. I understand that most lake if not all have a good supply of walleye in them. What would be some good lake to fish at that have muskie and northern in them? we dont want to go to the large lake and we dont want to go along the canadan boarder ether. All the help would be useful. Thanks
Nothing is better than a big old bass hitting a topwater lure on your favorite lake early in the morning.

Try the Detroit Lake Area. Lots of Lakes in a small area with Muskie and the bluegill on MN (Pike). Fished it a few years ago and caught lots of Pike. I am still not believing that Musky is the thousand cast fish. I have casted 10 fold over that and still never caught one. Never tried but have casted lots.

Vermillion would be good or Mille Lacs has some hog muskie and pike along with trophy walleye right now. It is about 20 minutes from Brainerd so there would be a lot for the family to do besides fishing. We go up there every year, lots of different lake sto fish in the area.

If you go to Mille Lacs, you can send the family to the casino while you go fishing!!! That place still owes me about $200.......

i can't go to the casino when redtails are $8 a dozen! My avatar pic is a 29" Mille Lac walleye from June of last year. Average fish we caught was 25" and we had about a 50" Muskie follow one of the walleyes we caught up the the boat.

we have been going to Cass Lake for the past 11 years. Same resort, same cabin, same week. We go the first week of August. You can usually score a limit of eyes on the main part of the lake trolling after dark. What is really weird about trolling up there is that you are working a bar that is in the middle of the lake and you are catching eyes in six feet of water. The muskies start to really turn on about that time of the year and we concentrate on them during the day. We boated 8 skis last year between 36 and 48 inches. But that was an excpetional year for us. One problem is that if you do not have a reservation in yet most are already booked.
